The mid-term election is almost here. My wife and I voted early to avoid standing in line.
However, this election seems very different from previous ones.
In Texas, this election is like an exam of who we are. It is two tests of the Texas electorate. The first test is a morality test. The second is an IQ test. Let me explain further.
Test 1 – The Morality Test
This is a test of the moral and ethical conscience of Texas and national voters. A vote for Republican candidates is a vote for President Donald Trump. If you support the president’s policies and actions, you should vote for Republican candidates. However, if you believe that the president’s actions are wrong, immoral, or unconstitutional, then you should vote for Democratic candidates.
What are some of the president’s actions that may cause you problems?
- Supporting Russian Premier Putin by encouraging diesel fuel exports and refusing to impose more sanctions against Russia in its war with Ukraine.
- Removing journalists who criticize the president.
- Supporting the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare who refuses to believe in the opinions of scientists and doctors.
- Using taxpayer money to travel around the country to support Republican candidates.
- Threatening election officials.
- Challenging the results of mid-term elections won by Democratic candidates.
- Refusing to address the economy and high inflation.
- Releasing ICE agents on “people of color” which has resulted in concentration camps, terrified children separated from their parents, brutality, and murder.
In Texas, we have a Senate candidate who is supported by the president. Mr. Paxton has demonstrated his moral and ethical fiber. He cheated on his wife, was nearly impeached by his own party, has used Texas revenue to defend himself against various accusations, and has become very rich while in office. His AI-generated campaign ads are full of lies. He is part of the Texas Republican majority led by the current governor that has controlled the state during the past thirty years. During this time, Republicans have damaged public schools and enacted the Robin Hood plan, which takes money from “wealthy” school districts and gives it to “poorer” districts. The same Republicans accuse Democratic candidates of being “socialists” and “communists.” The redistribution of money under the Robin Hood plan is a prime example of socialism. The Republican school voucher program has also weakened public schools. Texas schools are among the poorest in the country. My property tax money is going to other school districts. As a result, my district’s rating has dropped from A to B.
The Texas book ban has removed more books from school libraries than any other state. According to The Dallas Morning News, Elon Musk’s xAI or Grok has allowed users to generate millions of explicit images. Child sexual abuse material continues to appear on the platform. Why hasn’t Dan Patrick stopped Grok from producing this vile material?
Test 2 – The IQ Test
This is a test of the intelligence of Texas voters. One might describe this test as artificial intelligence (AI) versus the truth.
AI generated Republican ads repeat the same lies to a naive public. Texas Republican candidates refuse to debate their Democratic rivals. This prevents the public from seeing the candidates in an uncensored format which forces them to define and defend their platform. This is a great disservice to the public. Texas Republicans have closed polling locations in Democratic areas to prevent voting access. Texas Republicans have gerrymandered numerous districts to provide an advantage to their candidates.
In Texas Elon Musk has “poured $150 million into a Republican super PAC.” This “donation” comes with strings attached. Do you want Elon Musk to run Texas?
Republicans have condemned social programs. They want to do away with Social Security. I think all retired Republican voters should return their government checks if they think social programs are bad.
Conclusions
Voters should examine their own situation. Are you better off now than you were two years ago? Are grocery and fuel prices higher. Do you have more or less confidence in our government than you did before 2024?
I am not trying to convince you to vote one way or another. I only want you to think about what is being said and realize the consequences of your choices.
Do we get the government that we want, or do we get the government we deserve? It’s up to you. PLEASE VOTE!
